The Linux jobs that I was able to find, ranged from all over the United States. Most of them seemed to be in New York, Texas and California, but Nevada, Tennessee, North Carolina also came up.
The Linux job market seems to be a big market and only getting bigger. I found Linux engineers, C++ Linux Developers, Linux System Administrators for web television sites, Linux Support, Software Developers, and the lists seem endless.
Some of the examples that I found are:
Linux Support located in Raleigh, NC. Starting salary is $25-30 per hour with only 1-2 years of experience.
In Memphis, TN, there is a Linux System Administrator job that the salary is up to $80,000 per year, and you need 0-1 years of experience.
In Salt Lake City, UT, there is a Linux Administrator job that has a salary of $65,000-$89,500, and they are looking for someone who has 2-5 years of experience.
In Silver Spring, MD, there is a Linux Application Engineer where the salary is $50,000-$100,000 per year, and they are looking for someone with 5-10 years of experience.
In San Mateo, CA, there is an opening for a Java/C++, Linux Software Architect, with 5-10 years of experience that would have a $120,000-$140,000 per year salary.
The more searching you do, the more jobs keep popping up. Some of the posting don't seem to have a salary listed, but say that they have competitive pricing on the salaries. The experience needed for the jobs that I looked over range from 0-7+ years of experience, and the salary ranges seem pretty nice. The Linux programming field, along with other languages, definitely seem like a building future.
